Clash of the Titian was an education for me as a filmmaker.  An education in how not to make a movie.  Every text book mistake that could be made was made with this film.  Leaving it to be the first movie i can say i was bored watching it in the theaters.  When i think back at all the movies i have seen on the silver screen in the past no matter how bad they were i can say that i was never bored out of my mind wanting the movie to end so badly.

Being a big fan of the original 1981 version i was disappointed that they chose to change the myth so drastically in this remake.  But that is not where i find extreme fault in the movie.  I could would have been ok if they changed to story and still had a good plot going.  But instead they changed the myth to the point of not really having a plot.  There is no good reason given why the hero would risk his life to say a city he has no connection with.  Do to bad editing a whole city hates the hero due to some dialog that is very unclear.  I found myself asking how does everyone know that he is a son of a God when he doesn't even know?

The saddest thing in this movie is the pacing.  You know a movie is bad when you hear joke after joke that are suppose to be funny.  And you even understand why its funny but because of bad timing and pacing of action you don't laugh and nor does the rest of the audience. Everything just comes off as stale.  You can see what it is that the filmmakers were trying to do but you see them fail at it over and over again.  Its like watching a fat kid run the hurdles in track in field.  Know what he is suppose to accomplish but he always trips over the hurdle and keeps doing it over and over and over.  Its just sad.

So in the end i couldn't even recommend this a rental.  This movie doesn't deliver on any level of entertainment for me what so ever.  If you are looking for a stand out Greek epic movie.  You are better off watching the 1981 version.  The acting is 10x better (although Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes do act circles around everyone else in the film) the story has a progressive plot, the characters are developed better.  Even useful guard #1 (If you seen the original its the one guard that has all the information everyone needs)  So pass on this one.
